Good morning, professors. My name is , and my English name is Napoleon. I’m a 17-year-old boy from SHUIGUOHU High school. I’m greatly honored to have the chance to stand here and show myself to you.               

First of all, I’d like to tell you my special feeling for Wuhan University. Since my home is only a couple of miles away from the campus, I would always find some time to come here, wandering alone the road and enjoying the beautiful scenery and wonderful atmosphere. Once I saw an old man fluently talking with foreigners using a foreign language. From that time on, I started to notice outstanding people everywhere in Wuhan University. And naturally, it becomes the dream university in my heart. Also, from that experience, I realized the great importance of languages in our daily communication so I became absorbed in language study.

Apart from the pure admiration I have for Wuhan University, this place has also been so attached to my dreams. Being an out-going boy, I enjoy making friends and learning about other cultures. German culture is a fantastic attraction for me, such as beer brewing, car manufacturing, sports business and so on. I am especially enthusiastic about sports, like basketball and football, German football, as part of its sports culture, is very famous all around the world. Both male and female teams can get extraordinary results in the World Cup. With the all-round knowledge of the German culture, I may realize my dream of being a reporter—the bridge between China and Germany. I can interview various people using my beautiful German, and experience the famous seriousness and punctuality of Germany--not only for myself, but also for our Chinese people.

So, if I was given the chance to study German in Wuhan University, I would take a huge step towards my dream. Besides, it's one of the few exceptionally great language departments in the entire country.

Of course, I have learnt that German is one of the most difficult languages to learn in the world. But no pain no gain. As a young guy who is always filled with courage and confidence when faced with challenges in life, there is nothing to fear. Besides, with the precious help I may get from the gorgeous teachers in Wuhan University, there is no excuse for me to have any doubt in the final success that I can get on the road to my dream.
